Little Zee by Jaquitla Knight

Little Zee by Jaquitla Knight

It is important to encourage and inspire children to be proud of who they are. Author 'Jaquitla Knight' has effectively communicated this message through this story.

'Little Zee' was not confident about her name 'Xaita'. On the first day at her elementary school, she felt nervous about introducing her name to the class. Also her classmates found it difficult to pronounce her name.

Once, a student named 'Jinaki' tried to inquire about her name, its meaning and who named it but Zee became too nervous that she ran away. Her teacher observed it and all tried to make Zee understand the essence of name in a person's life.

As a result next day Zee confidently explained the entire class about how to pronounce her name. Proudly, she told them the meaning of her name and the reason why this name was given to her. After listening this whole class found her name different and creative. And 'Little Zee' no longer felt ashamed of her name.

It is necessary that kids learn self-acceptance. This book will be appropriate to teach them self-importance and to realize that they are special.
